Practise the 6 times table

Three practice questions first, then all twelve facts in a random order. Each one has six seconds and a three-second pause before the next, the same pace as the multiplication tables check in Year 4. Type the answer or tap the keypad.

Patterns that help

Every answer is even. When 6 is multiplied by a single-digit even number, the answer ends in that same digit: 6 × 2 = 12, 6 × 4 = 24, 6 × 6 = 36, 6 × 8 = 48.

The facts that trip children up: 6 × 7 = 42, 6 × 8 = 48, 6 × 9 = 54 and 6 × 12 = 72.

If a fact goes missing: Use the 3 times table and double it. 6 × 7: 3 × 7 is 21, double 21 is 42.

The 6 times table is one of the five (6, 7, 8, 9 and 12) that the multiplication tables check gives more weight to, so it is worth extra practice before June of Year 4.
