Practise the 12 times table

Three practice questions first, then all twelve facts in a random order. Each one has six seconds and a three-second pause before the next, the same pace as the multiplication tables check in Year 4. Type the answer or tap the keypad.

Patterns that help

Every answer is even. Twelve times a number is ten times it plus two times it.

The facts that trip children up: 12 × 7 = 84, 12 × 8 = 96, 12 × 9 = 108 and 12 × 12 = 144.

If a fact goes missing: Split 12 into 10 and 2. 12 × 7 is 70 + 14, which is 84.

See the multiples of 12 shaded on a hundred square, with a quick way to tell whether a number is one.

The 12 times table is one of the five (6, 7, 8, 9 and 12) that the multiplication tables check gives more weight to, so it is worth extra practice before June of Year 4.
